Keep your one-on-one redirections as private as possible
It’s critical to match your redirection to the student, the behavior, and the context. Sometimes, you’ll be able to redirect behaviors with a simple non-verbal intervention or with a whole-class reminder of expectations. But other times, you’ll need to address a student’s behavior individually, and you'll want to do it as discretely as possible. That’s what this technique – the Private Individual Correction – is all about.
